HOST International is proud to announce that we have recently been awarded Interim Full Membership status by the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) Board. This will continue until the next annual ACFID Council in October 2019, at which we anticipate becoming full members.

HOST will now be part of a network which unites Australia’s non-government aid and international development organisations to strengthen their collective impact against poverty. It will be a great opportunity for HOST to be engaged in and informed by dialogue on emerging issues that affect our sector and have the opportunity to contribute to and influence decisions.

“ACFID membership and the Code of Conduct ensures that HOST operates within an agreed set of standards for development work and remains accountable for the work that we undertake with communities,” says David Keegan, CEO of HOST International. “We look forward to collaborating with other members in assisting people on the move in our region.”

In order to qualify for ACFID membership, organisations are required to go through a thorough accreditation process against 33 commitments and are subject to ongoing evaluation. This encourages members to observe the highest ethical standards in all their activities, including strict observance of the Code of Conduct and to work towards improving practice over time.

ACFID is the peak council for Australian not-for-profit aid and development organisations. HOST International is a signatory to the ACFID Code of Conduct, which is a voluntary, self-regulatory sector code of good practice. As a signatory we are committed and fully adhere to the ACFID Code of Conduct, conducting our work with transparency, accountability and integrity.
